I began practising yoga at the age of 22 and since then I have loved the feeling I get after every class. I wish that I had found yoga much earlier in my life, the skills you learn for your own self being is something I believe would have helped me in my younger years. Yoga teaches you to relax, it calms the mind, aids in your own mental health and keeps you active. I truly believe that children will benefit from this practice, especially with the ever growing pressures in life.
In 2018 I decided that I wanted to expand my yoga knowledge. I attended a children's yoga course where I explored the different ways in which yoga can be made fun for young children. I loved learning about the benefits that yoga has on children and so that is when I founded 'My Yogi Bairns' yoga classes. I cannot wait to share this knowledge with the little yogis around the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.
During these classes I will bring joy to children through the act of Yoga. We will learn together how to bring peace to our minds, be in the moment and enjoy being active in a fun and safe environment. Yoga is a wonderful skill for children. Physically it can enhance their flexibility and body awareness, as well as helping with coordination and strength. Mentally, it will help with a sense of calm and develop skills of concentration which can help their active minds relax.
We have had 6 long months of lock-down this year which has been mentally difficult for each of us, I can only imagine how it has affected childrens' mental health, which is why I think it is so important to teach our wee bairns how to take time out for themselves, relax and find peace in our minds. Though lock-down has had its challenges, it has also brought us a new way of looking at things. We have enjoyed quality time with our loved ones and found new ways to fill our time.
During my lock-down, I have expanded my knowledge in yoga by adding to my studies. Currently I am in the middle of my 200 hour yoga teacher training, this is deepening my understanding of yoga and will allow me to teach adults as well as children. Not only that, but I will soon be introducing a 'Parent and Me', baby yoga and massage class which I am very excited about.
I love my job and I am so thankful to be able to meet such wonderful children and yoga explore together.

5-7 Year Old Yoga Class
This class is aimed at 5 to 7 year old children. It will teach them to relax and unwind whilst still having fun. The class will have games, songs and lots of mindful activities.
